Thanks Stephen,

I’m beginning to think you’re right about 1/72!

Fuselage ready to close up, nothing added other than belts.

Super cockpit detail. I always think that in this scale there is no point in adding much more than you have done as it cannot be seen. Better to concentrate on the exterior parts and allow more time for another rare type build!

Your interior looks great. Just the right amount of detail for the scale!

Thanks,

Yes, I think in 1/72, just a clean, simple paint job works best, the kit comes with nice moulded detail anyway.

I’ve progressed a little, not without a few cock ups - the lower wing on one side snapped in two at a natural joint - so I had to pin and glue that, one drawback I guess of resin, but I’ve got the fuselage together, wings on (I used a brass rod ‘spar’ through the fuselage, hopefully that will be strong enough, and the engine nacelles fixed in place.

Thanks again Terri, Ken, Prze, Rick & Gazza  ;D

Pressing on, I’ve pre drilled all the rigging/ strut holes. I’m not looking forward to the strut/ wing fitting. I just hope I don’t mess up; the potential to do so is enormous!  :P

I’ve probably jumped the gun, but I couldn’t wait to get a layer of primer on to see if my sanding shows up, few touch ups required but overall, not too bad.

It was quite tricky getting the right dihedral for the top and bottom wings - the top wing is in 3 parts and, again needs pinning. It’s not perfect but good enough!

The undercarriage leg I broke earlier broke again just above my pin so I had to replace the strut with brass rod. I cut off the small hoop and epoxied it to the rod. As the model sits on this, I have some concerns. I really wanted to solder a metal one on, but I just didn’t have anything that resembled it. I hope I don’t regret that later!

This is me trying not to epoxy the leg to the workbench...

Cheers,

Guy

Great progress on your model Guy. I've not paid much attention to the 1/72 scale for a long time, but this caught my interest big-time.
Cheers,
Gary

Thanks Gary,

Yes, I’m a recent convert, at least I can keep them due the smaller size.

Dashing ahead now, I’ve got some colour on - Home brew PC10. I wanted a fairly dark, fluid look as this it how the photo depicts her (admittedly, altered by the period film), anyway, I like it!

I turn my back for a day or two and suddenly the model is half finished! I have not made anything in resin but looking at those u/c legs i too would replace them with something stronger, especially as the model will be heavier than plastic.

The upper surfaces finish looks good to me - it sets off the relatively (for the time) streamlined engine cowlings.

Stephen.
