That's interesting about the link between MBK and Andy's HHQ.

It makes sense.  A while ago Andy went over to Germany and visited the company, shot some videos form their warehouse, etc.  At the time he didn't mention it was pursuant to some sort of joint business venture.

Also makes sense that Andy and MBK are getting these large lots of WNW kits.

I still see that Sprue Bros. has nothing new coming in, which seems strange.

There was a Video post maybe around mid-2019 (actually Nove 2019) on youtube announcing the partnership. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fof9MFa2l04

It could have been the case that MBK got in first and ordered everything that was available in the overseas warehouses prior to the other distributiors.

Thanks for that, Dave.  I had not remembered that video making the announcement, though I'm sure I would have seen it at the time!  I'm a fan of Andy's and think I have seen every video he's done.

After the feeding frenzy following the Wingnuts' Hong Kong warehouse stock sold to the German model retailer, I now look forward to a consequent increase in the number of Wingnut kit builds on the Forum :)

I'm mindful that buying up every Wingnut kit in the world will not bring them back, but also supporting other manufacturers such as Copper State Models, Roden and Special Hobby and Eduard etc will encourage those companies still producing kits to invest in new aircraft kits for us.

my shoppings are intended for building. now that they're all scarce they're further back in the queue, waiting for my skills to improve. this is not some vague notion of getting better, however. as a former art teacher i've designed myself a curriculum. right now i'm working on pretty basic stuff like laying down paint smoothly. my first 1/32 WWI build will be the Mengnut Wings Dreidecker, because they're likely to remain easy to get and therefore easy to try again if i'm not happy with the outcome.

regarding CSM, SH, and Roden, i'm fully on board with that, once the final touches on my WNW stash are applied (about 4 more kits according to my spreadsheet). next up after those will be about 10 CSM Nieuports. later, Roden Tripehounds for a Black Flight flightline. aftermarket is a separate budget.

now all i need is free time. currently building 1:1 scale racks full of servers. a byproduct of the pandemic is my biggest client deciding "oh crap we need a LOT more capacity for stuff like this." that's ok we bill by the hour :p

Hi Dave,

a couple of questions for you in your role as chief warehouse scientist:

1) extra bits (exactly like OAW D.VII sprues and LVG decals)... these are only in NZ warehouse?

2) how many warehouses are/were there, anyway?

I can't say what it would be like trans-Atlantic, but MBK delivered pretty quickly within Europe.  I got my delivery in 5.5 days from ordering.

I am not Dave, but I know that up to the end of last year some of the spare sprues were available from the Weta Warehouses - the EU warehouse had them on sale in December as 50% off. In JAnuary they disappeared from their inventory, like WNW kits.
Usually, yes, they were available only from NZ. The same holds for spare parts - at WNW they were always friendly in supplying spare parts - they were priced from 10 to 25 $, as far as I remember.
It would be great if they will emerge again after NZ lock-down.

Hey Jeff,

1.) Yes that was all from NZ. HobbyLink Japan did have a small selection of engine sprues at one stage. Perhaps they could be listed on the domestic Japanese site? But that was a few years back.
Weta Workshop NZ also had some sprues. But they removed everything that they had from the website a while ago. I suspect that anything they had remaining would of gone Model Department or discounted at Crew Sales.

2.) There were four warehouses - Wellington, Seattle, Amsterdam and Hong Kong.

The Spures that Weta were selling were only stocked in NZ. The costs involved in storage and picking a single sprue at the international warehouses were not feasible.

I suspect that sales from the NZ will resume when, 1) they have someone available to pick and ship orders and 2) when some kind of "Normal" returns to the postal systems around the world.

thanks Dave! the apparent selloff of the HK warehouse to MBK sure suggests they're being sensible about liquidating inventory, and thus they won't just bin the kits or sprues. kicking myself now for not getting the OAW D.VII sprues and LVG C.VI decals last time i ordered from NZ...

AndysHq will be selling more to US customers this Friday 10am PST:

The local shop will start this Wednesday, but they don't offer mail order from that location.

I've been studying the video like a maniac, trying to see what models he actually will have available on Friday.  He said it will be the same as what he has in the Phoenix hobby store in the video.

The selection is similar to what MBK has had for a while plus some others.

I pray to God they put order limits on these for Friday.

Andy didn't address that issue in the video, nor did he respond to comments to that effect beneath the video.

He did comment that the orders would be limited to 2 SKU

Which is strange as WnW still had them for sale when they closed shop, so you would think there is inventory of them somewhere.

There are all sorts of "current production" kits that should be in the warehouse in NZ that have not shown themselves in the last few weeks at HLJ, MBK, AHHQ, Hannants, Sprue Bros., etc.  If/when the warehouse opens up again, we should hopefully see some of those for sale at MSRP once more.  At least I hope so.

It's kind of a specific sub-set of the current production inventory that has been knocking around in the last few weeks.

And yes, no one has had an Albatros DV kit of any type, for example.

And now I see Andy has amended the information beneath the video.

Limit of 2 per kit per buyer.

I am seeing a few "newly available" kits in Andy's video.  The Albatros B2, the Felixstowe late, and a few others.
