Sopwith Pup B1807
« on: December 02, 2019, 07:51:06 PM »
I usually have several builds on the go at the same time, in the background has always been my first WNW kit - a Sopwith Pup

I don't know what it is about this one, it has stalled several times since I started way back in September 2010: http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49407

While trying to keep my hands of the DH.2 to let the tail booms set, I was browsing through some stored builds - a Cirrus Moth, a Roland C.II, a Hobbycraft Camel and happened to pick this one up again

Somehow, rigging a single bay biplane with well located spars doesn't seem particularly daunting now. And I seem to have got past my 'research/accuracy' obsession. Maybe this one will get finished!

I have posted about this one on another forum somewhere, I can't remember where

I notice that most of the pictures on The Aerodrome are missing. I have them, I shall post some here

Looking forward to seeing the photos and a resumption of this build.

I do not know how you people managge to have several builds on the go at the same time: I have difficulty keeping track of one at any one time!

Stephen.

The answer is to box the damn thing when the fun stops!

The fun stopped a few times on this one. I got totally obsessed with adding every tiny detail - naturally you can't see them in the closed up cockpit.  Anyone wanting to look up the tail skid hole will find the fuselage rigged - I'm not doing that again!

Not much story on this, I don't remember doing some of this modelling

Cockpit details

Yes, I rigged the floor too...

That's about all the pictures I have to date, so all new from now

The picture of B1807 I'm using has a black lump to the left of the windshield, which I think is an Aldis sight. So I made one:

Meanwhile, the fuselage has sprouted threads

Richard,

What drawings are you using, and where might they be available? They look very detailed and I'd like to get them.

Thanks,

Gene K

Hi Gene,

they are copies of the SARD (Southern Aircraft Repair Depot) drawings, published by Albatros in 2009. The drawings are reprints of those used to repair Sopwith Scouts (or Pups if you prefer) and are very detailed

The publication seems to be out of print, I can't even find a reference to it on the website
