Morane Saulnier Typ N 1/32 Special Hobby
« on: September 25, 2019, 07:00:57 AM »

Hello,
This time Morane Saulnier N on 1/32 scale by Special Hobby came to the workshop. After inspecting the parts, I come to the conclusion that the model will turn out to be pleasant to assemble. Although I had a puzzle difficult to solve when choosing painting. After studying the materials I am "forced" to perform painting in RFC colors :D. At first, I was very eager to do it in painting the pilot Smirnov from Russia. It turned out, however, that he flew on Morane but on Type I. Type N is significantly different from I. The first  important thing is the armament, N had Hotchinss and Type I already Vikckers, the part before the pilot covering the Vickers rifle was also changed. Type N was powered by the 80 -HP Le Rchone 9C engine, and type I 110-Hp by Le Rchone. Hence another engine cover, different hubcap and propeller. Type I already had a synchronized cannon. The difference can be seen in the attached photos.

Typ I

Returning to the model. I will try to make it in such a painting.

And I was going to do it
.

And what I was able to do. This will make a new truss. And here I have questions whether there was a plate behind the pilot's seat or an empty space with a truss, and whether there was a floor because here they suggest differently.

I like this kit and have it in progress.

Not sure how accurate, but I built a floor in the pit.

Nice start!
You showed interesting pictures! My Type-I project in 1/48 is on hold, because I do not now yet, how this russian I cockpit covering really looks like and how to create that from scratch.
Do you have a front picture of an I?
Cheers,
Frank

This kit can be made into a nice model.
The one I made is on my site (link below) in gallery1.
The kit does not supply the MS logo for the engine cowl - I printed mine, but I think you can the logo in 1:32 scale here:

Hi,
BugHunter,
Only these type I photos (maybe I will find something). I don't have cockpit photos.

Mike,
The page is unfortunately not loading. And I use the logo with Begemot decals, nr 3

Hi Nigrivender,
below are two drawings of the Morane-Saulnier cabin. The upper and lower profiles should be rather square, the struts between them round.

Two photographs (probably known to Bughunter). In my opinion, in Russian Morany, the cover was rather slightly rectangular at the top.

All photo found at the web.

Paul

Hi,
Thank you for the illustrations :). However, my work has progressed and I will not change. I will show you my progress soon.

PS I made the N version :D, not I. I do the Bughunter and he will use it very much. ;)

Something to watch out for is that the trailing edges of the wings are not level if you just plug them in the locating holes. (One wing trailing edge is higher than the other.)

Just a heads up.

Hi,
Slowly forward, there are a few small things left and I will close the hull.
