My Hangar To Date

The following are the WWI aircraft that I've built to date, since jumping into aviation modelling last June. The first kit I built was the WnW Sopwith Pup RNAS and aside from the rigging eyelets that are stout enough to hang a side of beef from, I was pretty happy with the result.





My second kit was the WnW Albatros D.V and I used Humbrol paint on it, which was the first time I've used enamels in over 30 years.





My third build was Roden's 1/32 Pfalz D.III and I painted it with rattle cans from Walmart, just to experiment with them for ease of use. I discovered in this build that Roden kits are really 'fun'. Tongue firmly planted in cheek here.





Next in line was the WnW Roland D.VIa where I tried my hand at a woodgrain effect and lozenge decals. I really enjoyed this project.





And my most recent build was Roden's 1/32 Dr.I kit where I took a crack at streaked camouflage using oils, and a barber pole paint job, both of which were also fun to execute.





Thanks for looking, and now it's back to struggling with my Roden S.E.5a.

A nice little collection you have growing there, The Roland is a thing of beauty and the Dr1 is also very nice indeed not forgetting the Pup the Pfalz and the Albatros, all splendid examples of our art.

I've watched every one of these being built, Chris, and have thoroughly enjoyed every moment.  Very fine modeling skills you brought to the genre and you've improved with each build.  Each one is a beauty, but the Dr.I is truly exquisite.

Gregory's just looking for an excuse to get out of the heat and humidity of the Deep South in June.  Might as well humor him and go along.  Your models really are contest ready.  If the WWI subjects are as sparce there as they are here, you'll sweep the class.

  LOL Busted again Bud. But not to escape the heat and the humidity way down in the Deep South.My wife and I will be in Kenora,Ont. in June for family business. I certainly would rather drag Chris along to any contest availabler while in the area rather that deal with what I have to do while in Kenora. But duty is duty no matter how much I dislike it.

PS: One positive note though I will get the chance to visit with the wife's cousin and her fanastic Cigar Bar. I don't drink but I sure do love a really excellent Cuban Cigar.

Quite a stunning collection you have there Chris. I still remember, and it doesn't seem that long ago, when you were sending me emails asking how to do this and how to do that with your Pup build, you were so worried about getting it right, well, not only did you get your first one right but each model after was pure excellence, like others have said, contest winners.
