Finished off the masking of the markings and the masks were excellent! Any errors under macro photography entirely mine..
The chequerboard was a little tricky - I had to lift and place each square rather than transfer the lot across, but not as bad as I’d thought..

Yes! That's the way to use paint masks!
The chequerboards turned out great and it was hopefully still easier to use the masks than to mask it using tape...
