Thanks Alistair, yep, it’s Wingnut’s at their best, that’s for sure...

It’s taken me ages to get all the many bits & pieces ready for paint. It’s got more bits hanging off it than a rag & bone man’s cart   :P

How it flew with all that weight & drag is beyond me.

Don’t worry about the wonky struts - just placed there for the mo.

Paint on... Mr. Color 1500 grey surfacer followed by a Tamiya mix of grey & aluminium. I think the masks up next.

Totally agree. The silver dope looks 'lived in.' Super job!

Did you use the rattle can silver? or the new lacquer based paint?

I obviously agree with all the others in their praise!
One question though - the difference between the ribs and the linen on the wings, is that painted or a result from polishing?

Your speed is unbelieveable, in the time I cut some parts from a sprue you build a complete aircraft :o
At first the Hellcat, and this bird here see some rigging lines  and finished soon?
I like the outcome of your project, the aluminium-grey mix looks great, like already heavily weathered.

Hi Bob, I just mixed Tamiya Grey & Flat Aluminium diluted by Laquer thinners out of the airbrush.

I was going to paint the ribs Fredrik but changed my mind. It’s from polishing. Do you think it’s overdone?

I’ve started on the roundels... great masks Fredrik!

I'm absolutely not an expert on ribs and painting, but I think it looks great. I also suppose that there will be some additional layers of weathering and possibly a clear cote or two which might tone the effect down, but I don't think it necessary.

Great looking roundels! I was wondering why the red center looked kind of strange, until I saw that there is some sort of wing structure right there. Looks like the masks worked well! I've been zooming like crazy on my phone here and I can't see any gaps between the colours, nor any raised paint edges... You obviously know how to make the best out them! Still a bit uncertain about how the square masks will work... Fingers crossed!

Yes, there’s an inspection port for the aileron control run, which is a bit lumpy!

I haven’t tackled the chequerboard yet, I think I’m subconsciously putting it off!
