Eduard 1/72 Junkers J.I
« on: June 15, 2019, 07:31:48 AM »
Hi Gents!
This is my debut in this Forum with my last completed model.
It's a Junkers J.I built from the Eduard 1/72 Profi-Pack kit. It reproduced 850/17 from Fl-Abt (A) 213 in the last months of war. I was inspired by a photo found in Over the Front Vol. 32 No.3 Fall 2017. In the back cover of the issue there is a beautiful color profile of 850/17 made by Ronny Bar.
In my knowledge, this was the only J.I that wears personal insignia (the crossed hatchets) but no clues about who's the owner of this insignia. The decals were draw and printed by my friend Enrico (thank you!).
The camo green is Tamiya XF-71, the mauve is and old Humbrol HJ4 and the light blue for the undersides is an old Humbrol HU14, all of them applied with brushes.
Finishing is done with Gunze Flat Top Coat spray-can.
The observer Parabellum is a mix between kit plastic parts and Part Etched pieces. I added a real wooden stair and a little soldier with some modifications.
Hope you like it!
Roberto

That could easily be mistaken for a much larger model - even the WNW kit. The addition of the ladder is a fine touch - makes your model very different from others. A good introduction to your work: do show us some more in future.

Spectacular debut. Very fine model, and not easy to build, I have  one in my collection. And yours is really easy to be mistaken for a larger WNW one! Looking forward to see more from your workbench.

Great debut Roberto, as previously stated, looks larger than 1/72 which is a testament to your skills.  Congrats   :D

Really great Junkers, especially in that small scale!
And even more, as you wrote this bird is brushed and not airbrushed :o
Thanks for sharing!

Cheers,

Thank you all! I really appreciated that I received only congratulations!
So, two of my modelling friends let me note that the wooden stair is a little bit "heavy", as overscale.
Looking better I agree with them, so the stair is gone....I'm working on a new one, less thick than the first...
For the ones that want to build same kit, my only suggestion is to build a jig for alignement of wings and for arrange the complex system of struts between the wings, as the one you may see in my photo in the attachments.
Now I'm working on this:
https://www.arcticdecals.com/products.html?id=21443/397408
Starting from a simple Revell 1/72 kit, good enough after 40 years from its first issue...
Cheers!
