wood grain added to the Albatros and the stripe is painted on the Pfalz fuselage. ( Yes the stripe should be asymmetrical  8)

The wood adds a great deal to the Albie and the Pfalz looks great with the color chosen and the stripe.  Looking forward to your outstanding progress.

Thanks Steve. I greatly appreciate your comments on the wood. As always I focused more on the effect of light and dark using raw sienna, burnt sienna, and burnt umber rather than a specific grain pattern.

Nicely done Rick. You've taken on a real challenge by striving for contrast between panels on the Albie; I've done it a few times and it's a stressful little period of the Build! Are you masking between panels when adding the wood grain? I mask with a thin and "de-tacked" bit of Tamiya tape and dread that moment when the tape has to be lifted. To date it's worked very well, however .........?!
The Pfalz is a beauty as well, this is going to be quite the pair when completed.
Cheers,
Lance

Thanks Lance. In answer to your question No Masking. Just painted some panels in a lighter shade of beige then did it all by hand. I try to do one panel at a time and start at the edge working towards the rear of the fuselage. Blend in at the front of each panel so there is not a carryover from one panel to the next. Applying the oils took Maybe an hour and a half  ( Four Days to Dry)  8)

I just wish that I could paint wood panels to look as realistic as that. The Pfalz looks first class too. What is there not to like with this build?

Both are beauties - cannot decide, which I like more!
The Pfalz monoplane looks very elegant, could be a Pfalz 109 ;)
And I like your wooden fuelage of the Albatros.

Cheers,
Frank

Ooh lovely wood Rick!

I do think the Albatros is the quintessential Wingnut’s kit  ;)

Thanks Stephen. Having seen your work I am certain that if you get some acrylic beige and raw sienna, burnt sienna, and burnt umber oils you will do just fine!

Thanks for the comments Frank. The Pfalz is indeed elegant. Too bad it did not perform as well as it's lines indicate  ;D
