Roden PKZ-2 Experimental Helicopter 1:72

Here is my attempt at this unusual kit, for a Roden GB on another site.  The pics show where I had got up to, and then after an "accident".  I am repairing the damage but it won't be the same :(

I used the kit base, with metalcote polished steel paint.  Here is a pic of the part finished (pre accident) model resting on the base.  I didn't like the labelling decal, so I stripped it off and repainted the base.

Managed to reassemble most of the components and re-do the rigging.  Still need to fix the central parts, add the ends of the outriggers and tidy up the paint before re-attaching the props and the bucket.

My recovery has suffered somewhat, 3 steps forward and 2 steps back.  It was recoverable but was looking precisely what it was, a many-times repaired and repainted model.  This was too much, looked too messy, so I bit the bullet and ordered a replacement kit - it was not expensive.

I will retain the bucket, props, and base stand from the original kit.  The rest I'll do again - started last night with the central airbag and central frameworks.  This time I'll assemble following my lessons learned and make it stronger in the first place.  No pics yet, perhaps when there's a bit more paint on.

What was the accident Ian? Whatever damage was incurred, it appears to me that you made a great save. In all honesty, it looks good to me. Sometimes a healthy wash or two blends a repainted area sufficiently well enough that it virtually disappears. one thing is for sure: it's a very interesting looking machine.
