Awesome Frank!

The attention to detail is fabulous.

Rick, you seem to like every update, thanks for commenting!

Cheers,
Frank

In answer, yes I do like every update! The latest on the tail rigging and aileron rigging is no exception!! I will make a promise that if you post an update that doesn't look like work in a Much Larger scale I will not comment  8)

Same here Frank!
I love what you're doing on the 48th scale, I would not be able to make such a great work even in a 32nd scale kit!!!

Thank you Guy, Rick, Juan and Antonio! Always nice, to see you here :-*

Here it was to hot (38°C) for outdoor activities, so continued on this little bird.

Accessories

Here we have the parts of a very detailed airspeed indicator form Gaspatch.

Much more details compared to the Eduard one below. I wondered about the mounting postion in manual? There are turbulences from the first struts! I check the Windosck Anthology - always mounted on the first strut.

Painted, glued together and mounted:

Here I used a metal stripe and two micro rivets:

And yes, it should be able to rotate freely (if not glued):

I removed the barrels from the kit guns and added parts from the PE set.

To mount the Master barrels as on my other german biplanes. Chemical browned already a bigger batch at once last time:

Mounted on the Fokker:

The blast channels was not available on my PE set, stolen from another Fokker D.VII Profipack.

So this bird can be converted into a biplane soon!

Cheers,
Frank

Wow Frank, as stated before, looks more like 1/32 than 1/48.  A testament to your work.

Thank you Giuseppe, Rick, Juan and Ken!

Hmm Rick, had some trouble during converting to biplane. The decalized wing is easily damageable. So let's see, if it is good enough for your commenting level.

PE gun barrels always look good!
The Master sets are really great! I cannot imagine to create such clean and filigree parts on my lathe. And the cooling jacked is not a PE part to be rolled, this is etched or milled into a brass pipe!

I have more pics from my Fokker E.V build:

Chemical browned:

Mounted:

Those were my first ones and I made the mistake to brown all parts together. Because of different brass alloy the reaction is different.
Now I take 5 sets or so for the next aircrafts and brown the same parts together, so I have a much better timing control and save a lot of time for the next builds.
And a good chemical black looks much better then any paint and do not close the small details. Such things are not possibel with the resin ones.
In the bigger scale 1/32 the even offer different sets containing the lock box.

Cheers,
Frank

I looked on the Master Model website and another of their machine gun kits indicates the cooling jacket is turned.  It would not be difficult to do with the right tooling.  If one is producing these kinds of parts commercially, one would have the right tooling.

I agree, chemical blackening retains more of the detail.

Your Fokker is looking very good!

Frank you keep on producing better and better elements to your models: annemometer and now gun barrels and blast chutes.... And I am being made to seem even more speechless than last time....

Biplane

And as usual my main improvement method "by accident" ...

At some point during the construction I noticed a broken tail skid! I have not noticed it :(

Because I had the feeling the skid was brittle and filigree, not robust enough, I created a wooden skid after the plans with metal additions.

And mounted. This is robust now, but it was not easy to work on the decalized and painted fuselage!

The rigging on the tail was added. In the middle there is a 0.3mm pipe through the hinge.

And now ...
it's a biplane! But it was a hard job, a strut brakes, the lozenge decals losens partly ... but 1000 curses later the job was done.

The top side. If you ask yourself what is that brass in front of the engine?

I added further visible details to the engine and radiator.

This is black alu foil of a whine bottle ...

Which I used to create stacking pads. I have a picture, which shows a metal plate with a bulge.

The last details are a windshield (taken from a Dr.I kit, because there a four windows with 4 PEs in the box) and the most complicated rigging - the aileron double control wires, including a turnbuckle.

I think, I'm done with the details (the grey of the wheels is not dry yet). Now some detail painting, like metal on the rigging, followed by weathering and the final pictures can be taken.

Cheers,
Frank

I agree with Steve , great recovery on the skid! I also see no sign of the broken strut or loose Lozenge. The aileron control wiring, pipe on the engine, and wing stacking pads and fairing look awesome!
