Many thanks, everybody!

Please tell us you will be making the G.I  :D :D
Cheers,
Dan

I have already said that, Dan, some posts ago, answering to Bughunter's question if I had a hangar ;)
G.I is preordered! And it will be built!

The lower engine nacelles with their struts and rigging done.
And work on the engines themselves begun. I started with filling the open backs of oil tanks, which, I feel may just be visible when mounted. The engine crankcases and cylinder blocks assembled and seams cleaned. All the resin goodies from Taurus Models unpacked and ready for fun.

Some progress.

The Mercedes D.IV engines. I had severe problems with positioning the valve springs when building my Rumpler C.IV some time ago. Then I discussed the issue with Łukasz from Taurus and he explained me his idea how to facilitate the problem. Indeed he devised it cleverly -there are longer bolts which should jump into the slots in cylinder blocks. So it is where I started

Now positioning of springs should be really easy!

And here is a slightly amended anemometer.

And the upper fragments of the "cages" for the engines, cut from the kit halves-parts and assembled.

To be continued...

Great stuff!
Regarding the camshaft work , feel free to peruse The Gotha thread (page 3 & 7 ) I figure out the valvetrain.
Watch out that you have the camshaft the right way round front to back, it is slightly different and will result in misalignment of the rocker arms and the springs. I installed mine backwards at first.

Thank you, Steve. I will see what you did.
And you are absolutely right, there are slight differences with front and rear of the cam shaft. I daresay I arranged mine in the correct way. ;)

Thank you!

Some more fun on the camshafts. The positioning bolts fixed, holes in the cylinder banks drilled for them. I copied what Krow did in his Gotha and prepared templates for valve springs positions. This eased the drilling very much, it was much easier to trace the locations on a paper piece than on the plastic part! The dry-fit assembly shows signs of fine alignnment, at least much better then I achieved in Rumpler engine...

Now to the airbrushing!
