I have "so" got to save up some pennies!!!
-
"Silver Wings" F2 & Ninak, nice!
-
Brilliant news on the post-war Bristol and Ninack in particular - I have just been working on some post-war markings for both and had restricted myself to those not equipped with the extra radiators etc - now almost all (apart from the "hump-backed" Ninack) can be done. No Wing Slats for the Bristol seems strange - maybe we'll see those in the kit as well?
Many thanks for posting this excellent update, James!
-
Many thanks for the report James. Were there any hints on when we can expect the Salmson or the postwar DH9A and F2B kits?
Also any clues on possible schemes for the Bristol Fighter? I'm hoping maybe a NZ Permanent Air Force option may be included?
I really appreciate you taking the time and effort to show us all what was going on in the Wingnut tent today.
Cheers

Wingnut Wings don't 'do' hints unfortunately. As I recall, Wingnut Wings had a preproduction build of the Sopwith Triplane at the previous Classic Fighters airshow in 2011, so it could be a year or more before the Salmson comes out, but I am only guessing. They are Kiwi modelling enthusiasts so if an RNZAF markings option for the Bristol F2B is consistent with the parts options I would imagine they'll include it. I'll post scans some pics of the Fokker DVIIF kit tomorrow, and the decal set I bought for it. Off to bed now.

Thank you James!
Did I see right, a Nieuport-profile by Ronny Bar? What could that mean? I mean, could it mean anything at all?

Besides I love to see WNW develop into the Silver Wings-direction! Would like to see an Airco DH 9 with "the other" nose too:

Thanks again Jamo! Lots to digest, and lots of stash to build whilst I wait...
-
I'm with Rowan and Richard ;D
I wouldn't have purchased either the Brisfit or Ninak Great War kits, but will have to have BOTH Silverwings versions (as with the "Post-War" Snipe).
Is this trend just a logical off-shoot of late-war RAF types, or is WnW testing the waters of potential demand for 20's-30's RAF kites? The Montex kits are gorgeous, but just a tad out of my price range, and I much prefer good old styrene to resin.
Regards, Rob

Thanks Jamo
Another case of Wingnut Wings induced repetitive strain injury as my draw drops again! The Salmson looks a beauty.
Best wishes
Nigel
-
Many thanks Jamo. Extremely informative and interesting.
Not sure if I'll buy the 'silver wings kits' as I actually prefer WW1 planes but that Salmson will be an absolute must buy.

Thank you so much for the info (and thanks to WNW as always)!
Except for the Salmson the next releases are not much in my interest but thats cool - I have more than enough to build and my wallet can use a break after the last release rush from WNW.
Have to say though wow the Salmson looks fantastic - figuring maybe that will be a Christmas release this year?
-
Yes, thank you very much, WNW!
Silver Wings and the Salmson, wonderful, but we should not underestimate the Fokker E.I and E.IV! (Me, I am especially looking foreward to the E.IV.)
No matter what WNW brought, brings, or will bring onto our desks - I was always fond of their choices so far.
Richard
-
Having already built a Bristol and a 9a I won't be rushing to make another anytime soon...
...or so I thought.
Salmon does look something else and I am tempted by lo on the d.viif schemes as well.
-
Thank you James!

Wingnut Wings have a close relationship with Ronny Bar (kinda obviously) and I think they were selling his prints 'on behalf'. You can see them on his facebook page here:

I bought one for the BE2c 'early' which was gorgeous

Here are some better images of the Fokker DVIIF markings options. The WNW website will have all this up in the next few days

Hello Jamo:
I will echo my sentiments and thank you for your time and effort to post these images and comment on the forum. I wonder what "bombshell" WNW will be dropping on us this year. (Camel perhaps) Last year it was the Hannover which came out of nowhere: I wonder what it will be this year. Like some of the others, the silver wings birds don't really interest me a whole lot unelss of course there is a post war USMC marking for the NINACK.
Looking forward to the DVII.F and the Salmson though. I like all their stuff.
Thanks again
Mark

Thanks very much Jamo for your very comprehensive review of the latest Wingnut news, this information will be of great interest to a lot of the members.
The Ninak and Brisfit don't interest me at all, but the Salmson has been ear marked, it looks like a very nice kit.
I think most members where expecting a surprise release over the weekend, something totally out of the hat, I guess we will have to wait until the usual Christmas onslaught of new kits.
Des.
-
Thanks Jamo for the run down !!!!
-
"...I guess we will have to wait until the usual Christmas onslaught of new kits."
Yeh, this time a Roland C.II, hopefully... (at least it's on my wish list for Santa!)
-
Now that we have DVII F, will we see SE5a Viper?
-
It's funny isn't it there's us hanging on their every announcement, spending hundreds of pounds on kits and so forth and there it is all happening in a tent in a field going almost unnoticed.
I was expecting marble pillars, dancing girls, trained lions the works.
-
A Roland C.II would also be very interesting.
But here's another thought..................,
Ray Rimell's newest Data File No. 157 "Halberstadt C.II at war!" has inside drawings
in scale1/32!!
I think he is better informed about the plans of Wingnut Wings as we.
Maybe there will "coming soon" a WNW C.II - but possibly a Halberstadt?
But this is just wishful thinking from me.

-
@ gcn: HAHA, beautiful, ideed! But I have ALL THAT in mind, whenever I see any WNW-news...
@ Umlaufmotor: Bertl, my thoughts!
-
Hmmmm . . . I sure could've used those extended exhaust pipes on my recent McKeever Brisfit build.
. . . I was expecting marble pillars, dancing girls, trained lions the works.
Well, I was thinking of picking up the Salmson but dancing girls sound even more enticing as a future release. ;D
Cheers,
Chris
-
I wasnt really expecting a surprise release myself but was really hoping we might hear more about long term or future releases. I think there are only three on the list now? (Salmson, EI, EIV) aside from the DVIIF and the silver wings but those are just mods of existing kit with maybe a new sprue and decals? And I think the EI and EIV have been on the list for like a couple years?
That is the fewest I think they have had announced for future release since they burst on the scene but maybe they are keeping future plans quiet (like the Hannover was)?
And yes, please bring on the Halb CLII (and CLIV while they are at it lol)
-
so... what's on the F2's sprue? a connecting pipe to the auxiliary radiator, the radiator itself and a new instrument panel 2 types of extended exhausts a new cowling a spare wheel (metal cover?? the resolution is not high enough to see this) a new radiator shutter with narrower louvres (amazing piece of injection mould technology WNW!) an enlarged rudder and a higher tail bumper. and last a connecting piece (tube for the radiator??) unfortunately no slats nor a modified top wing. i hope WNW will also market the sprue as a separate item like the armament or engine choices
-
I'm still thinkin that the Halberstadt CL.III will be the next WNW surprise release.
-
The Foker D.VII F is now available online from WNW along with an extra set of decals! :D
-
The D VII F is up on the WNW site. Just bought 2 .

If that's the case it won't be a surprise. ;D ;D

That's excellent, I hope to see photos of your build soon, have you decided which schemes you are going to use?
Des.
-
Des,
Not yet....Im not your typical modeler. I really enjoy building but then I will be using them for war gaming...so both will be from the same jasta and have a pilot in the seat... I wont be doing the cockpit details beyond OOB. I have picked up alot of tips from all the builds on your site.
Len
-
Sounds like an interesting concept Len, and building these kits OOB will give you an excellent model, the detail of these kits is remarkable. What pilot figures are you going to use to be seated in the cockpit.
Des.
-
I have 4 of their other DVII kits.....havent started any yet though. Right now I am building 4 of the Hobbycraft Spad XIII kits for the 27th Aero Squadron. I use PJ Productions pilots in the planes.

Yes the Salmson looks great! I had a DUH moment recently. Is the engine a radial or am I mistaken and just a closely cowled rotary?

the Salmson 2-a2 had one of the first no rotary radial engines a Swiss design by Canton-Unné

It was a liquid cooled radial. Self starting to boot. It was a big aircraft and the pilot sat up front.
It will be neat to get one when they are realeased.

Crikey! I go away for a week and come back to see this! I need another holiday!!! ;D
