Hello!
I am preparing the struts
Of course i broke all my drills before I ended the stuff...
so I had to buy again in internet...
Meanwhile, let' see another thing...
Paint!
1 step, colour definition and gunze or tamiya equivalences...
but let's beginning with an historic...
since middle of 1916 french plan's fabrics are covered with silver dope wich protect it againt UV
in the beginnning of 1917 colour pigment are introduced in the dope keeping the aluminium pigment.
and a five colour camouflage is proposed. Bur it is still dope and not paint.
Ripolin propose paint in the same colors for metal and wooden parts.
here the 5 colour sheme:
As far as I know, two autochrome show us this camouflage:deux autochromes qui nous montrent ce camouflage:
In "Cross and cockades" the "butterfly" project worked on this camouflage un the 70's and later Alan Toelle wote an article about this camouflage in the Windsock vol.30 n°1
we can found here the proportion of diferents pigments of each color
Lance Krieg applied those mix in his models.
Marc Chassard French specialist of french WWI aviaiton went more far:
He bought fabric, dope and pigments, and applied the dope in the fabric as it was done in 1917, respecting all the coats...
then, he cutted little piece and propose a colour shart very accurate...
it was my reference to find equivalences in gunze or tamiya.
i took alll the paints i had aronud the fabric colour and test them
here is the result colour by colour:
beige
light green
dark green
brown
light yellow
final result:
just have to test it now....
in a second step i will try to resolve how to represent the metalic aspect of the dope
