1/144 WW1 kits?
« on: November 29, 2018, 10:10:35 PM »
Having bought a Mk1 Models Beaufighter (lovely) at Telford in this scale, it’s piqued my interest. Are there any decent WW1 offerings in 1/144 out there?

Thanks,

Guy

I am aware of Valom kits. I have seen their Fokker D.VII in the flesh, built quite nicely, but I am no at all convinced by this scale to WW1 aircraft. Due to scale limitations detail level cannot be high, especially when one has already built a WNW kit in 1/32.  ;)

 Ok, thanks Prze,

Will look at Valom kits. I realise they’re not going to be mini ‘Wingnut Wings’ but the Mk 1 Beau is surprisingly detailed. I’ve even got a PE set for it that would rival a 1/32 kit!

Perhaps that teeny scale will hide my imperfections  : ???

Have a look at shapeways! Every ever flown WWI airplane is there on offer 3D-printed. Meanwhile they are, afaik, available in quite a detailed plastic material. And you can cut off the much too overscaled printed struts, replace them with brassrod and paint them — voilà...

Hi Guy,
on the last model show in Belgium a friend bought some SRAM Resin Kits in this scale. He was happy with them.
Here is a link to such a kit:

Brengun has some kits, too:
