1/35th scale Copper State Models Lanchester armoured car
« on: October 25, 2018, 10:12:19 PM »
A combination of diabetic hand nerve damage and carpal tunnel has played havoc with my model making this past year but after surgery ( and two disastrous attempts with finely detailed Wingnut kits that don't like clumsy hands) I'm finally getting back some modelling confidence thanks to Copper State Models' superb Lanchester armoured car.

This kit is a joy to work with and it's reminding me why we love making models. No vices, perfectly engineered, crisply detailed parts.

This one will be finished in the Persian scheme. Still quite a way to go but I'm really enjoying it.

I like it Dave, I'm a armor modeler also.

What 2 different worlds armor modeling and WWI AC modeling are....

Armor you can pretty much build the entire unit then paint, while the AC is a paint as you go process, sometimes I try and combine and paint AC parts true to my armor roots, but its difficult.

Quite glad the surgery was successful, Dave...the Lanchester looks spot on...any thoughts of a dio?

Glad to read that you are able to start modelling again...life is so frustrating when moddeling is not possible. The car looks superb - like all of Copper State models.

Good on you Dave
That looks like the perfect vehicle - pun intended - to get you back into the modelling groove. I hope your work continues and your (our) addiction to making small things is satisfied whatever that thing is!

The Lanchester looks very cool. Peter Jackson has a large collection of WW1 armoured vehicles  - I have seen a few in the flesh. I wonder if Wingnut will stray into these worthy subjects in the future?

Cheers

Glad to see you back at the bench and feeling better, Dave!  That Lanchester is an awesome kit, isn't it.  I was feeling a bit over whelmed by some of my aircraft project earlier this year and the Lanchester put me right.
Cheers,
Bud

An update on my Copper State Models Lanchester armoured car build.

Painting and decalling is now finished and work has begun on a diorama base.

This is an outstanding kit and an absolute joy to build.

As there are no suitable crew figures for the Persian scheme I am working on  a hybrid chap from a Masterbox WW2 Commonwealth crew set backdated!

More photos later.

Well done Dave!

Looks a nice a nice kit.. I dabble in armour too very occasionally, As Ryan says, it’s a completely different set of modelling rules!
