1/48 Alliance models Aviatik 30.40
« on: September 06, 2018, 03:26:34 AM »
Until the first semester begins, I'll start the airplane.
And immediately the question:  how can you imitate polished metal on the model?

"And immediately the question:  how can you imitate polished metal on the model?"

If you search some the the Fokker Monoplane Builds here you'll find some very nicely done examples of this feature along with descriptions of how these results were achieved. I haven't tried it myself as yet however these Builds contain several techniques I'll try in the future.
Cheers,
Lance

Nice start with a - at least to me - unknown kit!
Regarding the polishing of alu you have some possibilities:

1. Plating with real alu foil
Then you can polishing with a rubber pin in a Dremmel tool:

2. Using paints
If you paint with a lacquer based color like Alclad, you can paint on top of it with acryl like Gunze alu or something like that. If you paint small dots or worms you can polish then IMMEDIATLY after applying with a small brush.

Frank

Like Xan that's a new (and very appealing) paint/camo scheme to me. I like where you are going with this one, it's a very attractive subject.

Wow, Pustota!  You are a very speedy worker!  I love what you've done so far.  What colors did you use for the camo?  I have this kit in my stash and I take out and look it over every once in a while.  It's really calling to me now.  Do you also have the Alliance WKF D.I?  That's another really interesting design.  Too bad Alliance didn't do more of these A/H experimentals.
Cheers,
Bud
