My wife has just bought a model with 6020 pieces
« on: September 01, 2018, 01:59:29 PM »
It's the Lego Hogwarts castle and its colossal:

Massively popular with Lego fans, it costs USD$400 vs $349 for WNW Duelists. The Lego model weighs in at 6.9kg and the WNW Duelists a mere 2.1kg.

The finished Hogwarts Castle measures over 22” (58cm) high, 27” (69cm) wide and 16” (43cm) deep.

I think my modelling budget got let out a notch or two...

wow....

you married well. only problem i foresee is competing for shelf space...

you can sort that by getting a bigger house when the time comes.

Perhaps that was the plan all along...  ;D

Nice brace of goodies, J.

I like your model buying strategy here James. If your wife can buy a model with 6020 pieces, then you are entitled to also acquire models totalling 6020 pieces in the interests of hobby equality!

Jamo,
I'd say you are fireproof in the model shopping category! ;)
Cheers,

i haven't broken the news about my little plastic airplanes to my new girl yet....

i'm easing her into acceptance. fortunately she thinks it's cool that i have all these books about World War One so i'm cautiously optimistic. my kung fu will never be as strong as yours however, Jamo.

I see a Hansa-Brandenburd seaplane landing in the lake in front of Hogwarts. But beware of the Whomping Willow!

That Lego set is fantastic.  My only complain is it has too many specialized pieces, if you know what I mean.

It has never been a better time to be a fan of Lego than right now.

This is easily the best era in the history of the company.  Some of the "mega" sets they are giving us these days are truly incredible.

The new UCF Millennium Falcon is stunning.

Enjoy building your Howart's Castle!

Hi James
When we met at the model expo in Upper Hutt earlier this year you described the Felixstowe as "divorce in a box". Looks like you now have a marriage in two boxes!  ;D
Cheers

i just got the Felixstowe/W.29 on Weta's Black Friday sale ($50 off)...  *before* officially popping the question. so the real issue for me is,  will i be able to put off the wedding long enough for the O/400 and Lancaster to drop? 'cause it would be better to have these things as an 'existing condition' rather than negotiate.

although i do have a plan... already showed Jess a pic of the late Fee with "Jess" painted on the side... i'll get that going before she finds out how much this stuff costs :p
