Gunther sent me these photos of two Daimler D.III engine, the one on the trolley is fully operational and airworthy.

Nice clear interesting shots, early and late types, maybe a bit misleading putting the early engine with the DVII though (by the museum not Gunther).

Thank you Gunther for allowing Des to post these, theres som lovely detail shown. Not to mention the Fokker plumbing

Messieurs !

Those engines are shown at the Oberschleißheim Historic Aerodrome of the Royal Bavarian Aviator Troops from around 1912;
it is part of the Deutsches Museum, Munich .
The airworthy D.III will be an engine to drive a replica fighter.
It is the museum where "Umlaufmotor" took the frames of Kollomann Mayerhofers  beautiful Albatross replica .

Due to museum barriers I couldn't get a better angle of view of the airworthy D.III .

Don't pay too much attention to the radiator. It is not very accurate looking and I suspect a modern attempt at a reproduction.

well Gunther, it is luck you could not take better pictures of the airworthy one!
Imagine one of them seen by Bo: he could try to build an airworthy engine too!
