Gotha G.IV 624/16 Ernst Brandenburg - 1/32 WnW
« on: February 26, 2018, 07:14:57 PM »
Hello,

I started working on my Gotha and finally decided on the scheme 3 - Gotha GIV 624/16 Ernst Brandenburg. I will not be doing much detailing and adding scrathed parts, but I will try my best to receive an eye pleasing result. I will add some Taurus engine details and HGW seatbelts. I was thinking on getting HGW PE frets, but ohnestly they doesn't add that much to justify spending this amount on money on them. One of the engines will be with open nascelle and there will be Aviattic fuel cart (probably) at the end.
I looked at my "artistic license" and changed some of the colour reccomendations and made the wood redder and a bit lighter than reccomended by WnW, also ma changed the colour of the leather from the reccomended black to red (to compliment the choosen livery) and some other minor details. Well actually noone can be absolutely sure for the colour of those anyways.

Here are the pictures so far:

Great work to this point SsashoO, you've given it that slightly worn/used look that I much prefer in a model very nicely and that red you mixed up is perfect! Is it your own mix, it looks very like the Drooling Bulldog "Kraplack" red I've been considering? A very attractive model already. 8) 8) 8)
Cheers,
Lance

Hi Lance,

I mixed my own red as the decals are looking too clean and unicolored. So I decided to mask and paint it, unfortunately I got some leaking under the masks, that were hard to fix (red on white...go fix it).. Anyway I mixed liberally Tamiya's Red, Hull Red and Brown red (or something like that). Really just eyeballed it untill it looked right to me. It turned out considerably darker than the decals themselves, but I like it.

best regards,
Sasho

 Sasho,
Beautiful work to date my friend. I have no idea if your red is correct or not,but it surely looks good. Keep up the high level of excellence.

Highest Regards,
