Lebed VII (Sopwith Tabloid)

I just finished my first model of the young year 2018, the oils are still fresh :)

The Lebed VII is a russian copy of the Sopwith Tabloid and the model was done from a Special Hobby kit in 1/48.
Further I used a rotary engine from Small Stuff, turnbuckles of Gaspatch and Eduard PE. Different wooden parts, e.g. air screw, cockpit, struts and undercarriage are made from scratch. Also some metal parts and the aluminium cover of the fuselage was added.
The painting I used colors of Gunze, Alclad and oils.

Due to the combination of real wood and metal this is one of the most beautiful models of my small collection!

And now the pictures!

The view from below:

At the end a view into the inside of the cockpit:

For more I can only suggest to view and read the build report with a lot of detailed pictures:

And now I'm looking forward to your feedback!

Cheers,
Frank

Frank, I followed your build and have to say that this is one of the best models I have ever had the pleasure to see (even if only in pictures).  Congratulations on this masterpiece.

Beautifully done Frank, a truly great model. Using wood and metal to represent wood and metal certainly is a nice touch and adds tremendous realism. Congratulations on another stunning addition to your collection.

That was a spectacular modelling show and the great finale does not disappoint, either. Great, great, great!

Frank, this is master modeling at it's finest!  I love the Tabloid in all it's forms and yours is the best I've seen yet.  Thank you for taking us along this journey.
Cheers,
Bud

Great build. I do like the weathered effect you have done on the metalwork. Some of the closeups could easily be mistaken for the real thing.

As said in the build thread already, this build was pure joy to follow, many thanks for sharing the progress and the number of tricks and techniques!

The result is definitely the best rendering of a Tabloid I have ever seen.

Great job, sir!

Cheers

I agree with Lance: using actual materials  gives results which cannot be matched. But to do so takes real skill and you have demonstarted these in your excellent build thread. You are a master modeller Frank: I congratulate you on a true masterpiece.
