You're an incredibly resourceful and creative modeler, Andrew.

I always admire threads where somebody takes a "rough" kit, and turns it into something beautiful.

You're inspiring me to consider doing something similar.

Though it won't look as good as this.

Hi!

The project is not dead, I only had very little time....

The first work after the break: insert metal tubes on the end of struts, the plastic ones are too short and too brittle.

Next I've started to work on taurus engine.
As you can see a huge improvement on the kit one.

I cut the small parts inside a bag, so it's no so easy to loose them!  ::)

Black base

Now I'll pause the engine build, I'll use it as is for engine mount fitting and other things and when everything will be ok I'll finish to build it.

TIme to close the fuselage.

Dry fit on wings, not bad.

Anothe bit from WnW, this time a propeller form fe.2b, shortened a little bit. I Still have to rebuild the tip reinforcements.

Time to apply the metal foil canvas sides.

PE for stitching added.

Something to fix, but not bad.

That's all.

I have also cut the masks for roundels and codes, so now I'll go on with painting of wings and nacelle.

Bye

Andrew

That's some nice work, Andrew.  I really like that stitching.

Wow, that is getting the most of a Roden kit (understatement on my part).  Your work, and I quote Rick "Brilliant".

 Andrew,
Fantastic project my friend. I'm very much impressed with your replacing of the canvas sides. Love seeing a talented modeler work magic on less than perfect kit. Keep up the high standard of excellence .

Hi!

Time to work on wing.

Usual pre-shading (like the tailplane), followed by CDL color

I made some home made masks with silohuette cutter and frisket to paint the roundels.

On the lower left wing you can see a roundel without white ( and with some treouch to do  ::) ).
This is because the lower left wing was once a top left wing, so it didn't have the roundel on the bottom.
It was repainted on the field without using the white.

On the top the roundel was overpainted but it's still visible.
Also the c1 code was masked and painted.
Still some retouches to do and weathering to add, but for now I'm satisfied.

FInally I've mad the hole for the footstep. I'll have to add the PE part yet.
I still have to decide if I'll leave the sides in CDL or I'll paint with faded and chipped PC8 like in some pictures....

That's all.

Now I'll go on with nacelle and some wings weathering.

Bye

Andrew

Some great modelling going on here Andrew, your results on the canvas side panels using foil are most effective. The work on the wings is very impressive as well, this is going to be a spectacular Build! 8)
Cheers,
Lance
