 Guys and Gals,
As promised here's the latest photographs of my Camel project. I spend the last several days working on and installation of her new aftermarket Vicker's MG's. The Eduards Brassin example was used. Really nice details there too. With this done I moved to install the struts, upper wing and the landing gear. So without further ado here's where the project stands today.

That's all for now. I'm beginning the rigging today so it's likely the photographs posted will be the completed project at long last. As always any and all comments are welcomed and very much appreciated.

Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette

That's looking great all round Gregory and a nice engine outcome as well  - good luck with your rigging.

Looking really great, Greg, and a real milestone reached to go back and finish her! I admire those that have finished this Kit so well, it's not a walk in the park by any means!
Cheers,

 Bud,
As always your kind and generous comments are very much appreciated my old friend. Back when this project was put away it was nearly done except for final assembly and rigging so it's not taking long to finally complete her.

 Tug,
Well thank you very much my old friend. But I've got to tell you I honestly wish your Awesome Camel was done before I started mine. Your's is such an excellent reference to go by. Not only that your's to date is the finest Camel I've seen.

When it comes to rigging I need all the luck I can get. Funny thing though the rigging used to be my favorite part of the project. Now after the Nieuport 17 and this Camel I'm not to certain of that now. More of a struggle now than challenge before.

You have done a superb job Gregory, every aspect of this build is very well done, I'm looking forward to seeing the rigging fitted.

 Lance,
Your great comments are very much appreciated my old friend. You're so right the original HobbyCraft kit and it clones are no walk in the park. Seems like there's a thousand different modifications to be made to attempt to do it justice. I certain hope two revised HobbyCraft Camels I bought in Austin this weekend will require much less work. Still I'd rather modify these two rather than build WNW's upcoming Camel as beautiful as it is.

Gregory, for some reason I missed your reply #60  :-[.

I'm really pleased for you that your modelling interest has returned with such interest, we all have layoffs but it's so nice when that fire rekindles. Long may it last.

Thanks for your kind attributes to my build but if you saw it at the moment you would be as disappointed as I am. The rigging has slackened off totally and really does look awful. It will have to be done again at some stage - not an easy task to contemplate.  I tried a different approach on the Nieuport and that is just fine so I think I know where the mistake was made - inadequate anchorage at the lower fixing. It's been re-tensioned twice using heat and during some very hot weather a few days ago was looking pretty tight - not any more I'm afraid. I'm convinced that the line (monofilament) is slowly pulling through the CA joints with nothing to restrict its movement.

I have just received another HC Clerget engined version so intend to have another go. Hopefully I can improve the rigging and this time I will follow your build and make sure I put those inspection windows in the wings  ::)
