Early Rumpler by WNW
« on: October 08, 2012, 12:50:14 AM »
Some one asked me on another thread to post some pics of this.

I meant to a while ago, I was asked to put some of my builds up but.. naughty me I havent upto now.

So a few completed and a smattering of pics from during the build.  This was a kit I loved building, the detail is lovely, now Taurus have those Merc IV rocker box add ons I'd love to build a late Rumpler too...but hey theres an imminent DVII on the horizon  ;)

Now some in progress shots.

My only real issues were the fact I believe IMHO only that the undercarriage needed amending, the axle sits too low and should be in the slot not beneath it. I think WNW took the reference from the museum Rumpler pictured elsewhere too literally as it's sitting with its wheels off the floor so gravity hasnt done what gravity does best. Now thats only my opinion... Oh and the missing fuel cock levers.  ;D

A word of advise for anyone building her though, reinforce the fuselage joint, the plastics not thick and the joint might crack under handling, not good if you've finished painting. (Merlin over on Aeroscale advise me on that one))

Any comments or questions are always welcome.

Keith

Absolutely gorgeous, Keith!  I love the weathering, both in and out.

She's a real beauty! After seeing this, I just have to get one of these Rumpler kits.

Cheers,

Chris

Keith,
Lovely to see that old black oak stump up in the lights again. Any chance of a few photos of that Jasta18 Pfalz DIIIa you completed last year??
Cheers,

Outstanding work Keith.  You attention to detail is noteworthy and pays off with an outstanding model.  As it sits on the familiar stump, it looks real.

Best

  Keith,
She looks every bit as outstanding as she did way back when. Thank you for a Master Class build guide my old friend. She's truly an excellent guide and one of if not the best for anyone wishing to build one of these magnificent aircraft. Again Congratulations and a hearty Well Done.

Excellent work and thanks for the heads up on the tweeks. What a great looking bird. Why does it trail soooo badly in polls?
