Hucks starter and Crossley tender
« on: October 07, 2012, 05:35:21 AM »
Although not a diorama (yet) I thought these pics may be useful for someone as reference for a future project. They are both at the RAF Museum, Hendon. Sorry they're not too good, there's very limited access for photo angles, but they are better than nothing!

Thanks Ian for posting the photos, they will be good reference material for anyone wishing to build one of these vehicles to add to a diorama scene. The Hucks Starter is certainly a very basic machine but served a purpose.

Very good idea posting them !

I always have to fight the Museum conditions , too; so please don't worry on angles and lighting conditions.

I have 1/32 Model T kit that I'm thinking about using for a Hucks starter car.  Thanks for the pictures.

I also have a T model Ford kit, it is an old Pyro kit (1967) which I was going to convert into an ambulance, but the Hucks starter looks an interesting subject, food for thought.

If anyone is feeling the need to create a Crossley, either Tender or Staff Car, the British vintage and veteran magazine "The Automobile" has recently published a 30 Year anniversary edition, which has a ten page feature on RFC Crossleys, with some period photos plus good detail shots of a pair of surviving vehicles. Plenty of useful stuff in there.

  Tony,
Could you possibly scan those photos for the forum? I believe there's enough interest here for just that. Thanks in advance my friend.

Is there a source for that particular issue? I see its a 1982-2012 anniversary edition. When did it come out?
