Avro Spider in 1/33 from Wagner Models Paper Card Model FINITO!
« on: November 12, 2017, 04:27:34 PM »
All,

Here it is all done.  I cheated and added a spare plastic prop from a Roden SPAD since I kind of butchered the paper example.  It looked a little thin and twisted.  Except for a little paper issue on the top wing tip, I'm very pleased with the outcome.  An interesting machine to say the least!

Thanks for looking and I think I may do another one of these paper card models darn soon... ;D ;D ;)

Dan

I can only imagine that isn't your first card model? Love the compound curves of the cowl...don't worry about that propeller, most of us used kit parts for the whole model ;)

That's a lovely model, excellent work

Using card brings something different to a model, something to do with the clarity of the printed detail

Congratulations on a well done model.  We surely will not see one of these in plastic.  Your work is simply stunning.

What a little beauty, Dan!  I'm especially impressed with how smooth the cowling is.  Very nice!

I thoought that your scatch-building skills and vacuform models were pretty darn good, but these paper models are something else again. That engine looks as though it is plastic or metal, and the curves on the cowling are such that I am sure they cannot be paper! Very many congratulations Dan - my jaw hurts after hitting the ground so hard!

Thanks so much, everyone.  It was a really nice kit to put together and if you wanted to try a paper card model of a WWI subject, you couldn't do much better for a first attempt.  Complex enough to require care and patience but not painfully so as some of the real paper artists can do!  Fit my skills set well.

For fun, here it is next to a pending WNW Snipe so you can get a good size comparison.

Cheers,
Dan
