Spad XIII 94th Aero Sqd. USAS, Neuwied, Germany Spring 1919
« on: September 25, 2017, 12:09:04 AM »
I would like to share in this case the last photos of my Spad Checkerboard diorama.
I think I`ve spend too much time into this lil`project.
But for now I`m still proud coming to an end. Well, now after all those nerve cutting masking tasks, I would say it was all the effort worth.
Some words about this diorama.
The figures are the italion pilot and crewman at rest from Hecker and Goros with minor conversions.
The grass is a mixture of three different types of the brand Mini Nature.
The wooden area is made out of thin wood plates out of a cigar box.
The chickens coming out of the Pegasus Animal Farm Box.

If you wanna look back to the construction of Spad and Ford T conversion, you Will find the thread here:

Magnificent finish Dirk, as I said some time back one of the best aircraft models I've seen here and the Huck's Starter is beautifully done as well. The scene you've composed is very impressive and well presented; all in all a magnificent project and very impressive work!
Cheers,
Lance

I can't add much to Lance and Edgar but I will try. What you have achieved with the SPAD is Model painting at the Top Level! An incredible finish! The Hucks starter is an equally Magnificent build! Put together in the diorama with the figures they are a Fine Piece of art!

That is absolutely gorgeous! Very nicely done and a great idea for the little diorama. The little touches (tools in the vehicle, chickens, etc) give it that little extra something....

Dittos for all the above comments !   A perfect diorama--instant recognition of a "story", then you look at all the individual details !

How did I miss this?!  That is a diorama to die for. Superb aeroplane, wonderful Huck's starter and the other details are the cherry on top. Too much time? I for one think not!

Outstanding!
I had the great honour of seeing it in Mol, Belguim. It was clearly a well deserved winner.

I`ve sen your Libelle in Mol. It is a tremendous work. One of the best Sci Fi Models I have seen in my modelling life. My friends and I were surprised very much about the decision of the jury. We were in firm conviction the fact that your model becomes "Best of all of show".
But that`s life and let me say at last, you would have earned a gold medal.
