Just to let you all know we got home last night about 9pm, Surgery was completed by 11:30 on Monday, in the ICU till about 7 pm, worst part was the intubation tube that gave me a sore throat and cheek, I struggled too much when first waking up so was my own worst enemy. Then just 4 days in the cardiac recovery ward.
Best results possible in that it was only a repair of my mitral valve so no foreign stuff in the body that will require drugs for the rest of my life. No pain in heart, only pain now is the area from the incision, have not had to take anything stronger than Tylenol since Tuesday night. Six weeks of no driving , no lifting of > 5 lbs. , no wine, ( at least I'll get to model) then a two stage rehab so that in 6 mos( I expect less but...) I'll be able to play pickleball/resume all activities as before ( probably the reason for only 4 days instead of 7 to go home; nurses called me the "runner" since I was walking on Tuesday and at even 1/2 my normal pace it was a shock to them).
Again ,Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers !!!!
