Wingnut Jasta 5 Quartet
« on: August 26, 2017, 05:24:47 PM »
Its been a while since I have really built anything... Life is busy with work and family, as I am sure most of you are familiar with. I have been working on the Jasta 5 boxing of the Albatros over the last 2 weeks when I get a spare moment in the evenings. I also raided another kit for another set of sprues as there are 4 schemes that I am waiting to do out of the 11 provided in the kit.

Schemes that I am doing are -

Albatros D.V 2065~17, Richard Flashar (2 victories) July 1917 & Hans Joachim von Hippel (2 victories), February 1918, Jasta 5 (Red Dragon)
Albatros D.V Stallion Jasta 5, July 1917
Albatros D.V, Ltn Wolf, Jasta 5, July 1917 (2 victories) (Blue & White Diamonds)
Albatros D.V Gauntlet, Richard Flashar, Jasta 5, April-May 1918 (2 victories)

Currently this is where I am, post I have a lot of other parts cleaned up ready for primer and paint, hopefully that will be done tomorrow morning when I have a few hours to myself.

Outstanding start! The wood tones look great.

Really nice start. I love the light wooden tones. But why only three Albatros fighters at one time?

Cool stuff Dave.
Of course your stunning work is evident on the Wingnut website but it will be really neat to see it play out in a build log. Looking forward to that and to being seriously tempted by the triple set to boot.

Cheers,

Managed to get in front of an airbrush this afternoon. It didn't start off well with the airbrush nozzle snapping off after I dismantled it for a clean. Lucky I own a couple of other airbrushes!

All the small items are mostly painted, just need hand paint the straps and brackets on some parts. I have been using Mr Paint and Mr Color for everything so far, bar the interior green which is Tamiya.

I should be able to find some time this week to start getting everything into sub assemblies. But man there are a lot of parts!

Such a cool project, Dave, and you've done some brilliant paint work on all the components.  Really looking forward to following this one.
Cheers,
Bud
