Gotha WD.2 / AVRO 503
« on: May 19, 2017, 06:17:42 PM »
So, pottering around using Google, AVRO sold some 503s to the German Navy in 1913, which they developed into the Gotha WD.2

AVRO 503 from Wikipedia:

Gotha WD.2 from Wikipedia:

The AVRO 503 used the Gnome Omega Omega (a fourteen cylinder, double row 50hp Gnome Omega - sounds like an overheating disaster in the making), the Gotha used the Benz D.III, so clearly the nose is different. It looks like the AVRO had different floats, the Gotha has no tail float. The Ottoman WD.2 seems to have had an overwing machine gun on a rotating mount surrounding a hole for the crewman. Apart from that, are they much the same aeroplane?

What would be a good source for a drawing of the WD.2?
