Looks very nice, Bruce -

Was this a good kit (I know this is an ex Eduard kit) and how many colour schemes/versions do Revell offer in this kit?

Nice work. Vivid color scheme too. Lothar obviously wanted to stand out in the crowd.

Thanks for all the comments on the DrI. to answer some of the questions. There are two options on the Revell decal sheet, the usual all red version based on the 'Barons' last flight aircraft and Ludwig Beckmann's Jasta 6 aircraft. The kit being ex Eduard is basically good and the detail provided is probably sufficient for the average modeller. I did a little extra detailing in the cockpit and rigged it as fully as i could. The only item I didn't like was the lacing under the fuselage, the two halves have to be joined and then a separate part added which had the lacing detail. There was no way of getting a good fit and still retaining the lacing detail. I just sanded it all smooth and did the lacing with small sections of stretched sprue, a fair bit of work but certainly a better option.
Revell is one of the few manufacturers we get here in South Africa so we take what we get, I plan to have a go at the Albatross which is also on the shelves over here.

Bruce

Very nicely done Bruce, it certainly is a vivid colour scheme which is very appealing.

nice work bruce.that strip with the lacing is tricky. its also like that on the eduard dvii. i have done 4 dr.1 and 3 dvii of the eduard kits. only 2 did i have problems with the lacing strip(1 dr.I and 1 dvii) the other ones came out flawless. dont know why?

Thanks for all the positive feed back. I have just started the Roden 1/32nd version which I will do in the same colour scheme. Quite a jump from 48th to 32nd when it comes to detail. Hope to have some photos in the not too distant future.

Bruce
