Thanks for the kind words. The red color is Mr Hobby Mr Color (lacquer) RLM23 Red (#114) that is highly thinned. Since red is such a translucent color, I went for a blotchy see through effect, but I'm not sure I like the way it turned out.

I feel the blotchy effect you did looks very prototypical.  Very nice job on the woods as well.  Beautiful model!

I agree with the others in that the overpainted blotchy look is perfect. The red looks awesome in color and the wood tones are great! Well done all around.

    That red blotchy "see through" effect is what really caught my eye. I have this scheme in mind for a future Build and this result is exactly what I'd aim for. You absolutely "aced" the effect; again, beautiful job!
