WNW Post War Brisfit Finished
« on: February 22, 2017, 07:33:41 AM »
Hello All,

Thanks to those that followed along with the build. I think this is now done. Absolute pleasure to build and definitely my favourite WNW to date - it's a superb kit, if you haven't made one then you really ought to!

It's from 5 Squadron RAF based in India circa 1925 - Masks for the markings care of 'Mal's Masks'.

Can anyone spot the obvious error? The maps in the cockpit are of France & Flanders  ::)

Thanks for looking in...

Guy

Not only was your build a pleasure to watch unfold, but the final pictures are more magnificent than I realized! What a beauty. From details, construction, weathering to rigging! Awesome work!

Super build log - even better finished model. Really makes me think that perhaps I ought to think about one too…

Absolutely gorgeous Guy, your build log was a real pleasure to follow and now looking at the completed model is even more pleasurable. You have done a superb job with all aspects of this build form the initial build, painting, decal application, weathering and rigging, all signs of a very experienced and talented modeler. Congratulations Guy and thank you for showing us your masterpiece.

Great build, Guy. Striking scheme, fine weathering, beautiful finish, all in all a top class.

And your error with the map reminds me of a text from English textbook I learned from some time ago. There was a couple wishing to go for holidays and they were offered a boring week in Brighton. When they complained, the furious clerk proposed several more exciting options he just "invented". Those included a week in the heart of Amazon jungle, with a map of... London underground.   :D  Others were: a desert adventure with camel stampede as a highlight, rowing across tropical seas with lurking sharks, etc. After that the couple humbly accepted the peaceful week in Brighton...

Ah, thank you all very much. To be honest, I only really build for the interest & involvement on this great forum!

Not without the usual cock ups & fingerprints but I'd happily try another one - and I don't always say that after a build!

I've got a Camel coming at some point, I've also been sent Edgar's lovely floated Caudron and I really fancy a DH9 and/or DH9a. I'd love to do a DH4 too.. is there much difference in outline to a DH9?

And of course I want WNWs to bring out a Dr.1, Spad and Be2c.

I'm just about to start another conversion course at work and that's going to pretty much end my modelling involvement for the next couple of months - I need to retire!

Beautifully done Guy!

Overall silver and white finishes aren't easy to achieve realistically but you have suceeded outstandingly.
