WNW Hansa-Brandenburg W.12
« on: February 21, 2017, 12:08:26 PM »
As promised in my build thread from last year, here are a few random pics of my completed W.12.   The model has minimal weathering as I wanted to portray it early in its career.
A full build article is scheduled to appear in the April 2017 Airfix Model World which will be out in a couple weeks.

Cheers,
Eric

Really beautiful model Eric. I'm close to finishing mine and can only hope it looks half as good as this beauty!
Cheers,
Lance

Fantastic work, and thanks for sharing all this with us. Usually magazine-builds get 1 or 2 small pictures posted of the final article and seem a bit like advertisement to get the magazine.
In this case, I will :) I like the Airfix magazine, and now that I think of it, the tip to polish paint with a coffee filter may have been from one of your builds in that! :)

Thank you!  I've always enjoyed sharing my builds, even before my involvement with AMW.  I know not everyone can get the magazine, or has any desire to, so I post what I normally would for their sake.  Of course it doesn't hurt to put in a plug for the mag too.  :)

Cool.  I believe I have mentioned the coffee filter thing in an article or two.  I think you'll find an interesting tip regarding painting and decals in the W.12 article.

Cheers,
Eric

Eric, thanks again for sharing, I did not comment much on the build thread but really enjoyed following it :)
That coffee filter thing kind of stuck in my head and I used it after flatcoating my 1/72 Fokker D.VII and Albatros D.Va to polish the metal cowlings, which created a less-flat appearance to differentiate between metal, wood and fabric parts. Worked out quite well, though almost too subtle to photograph.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing it in print too. :)

It's out!  Hitting the stands yesterday April's Airfix Model World features my W.12 and they even chose to use it on their Facebook page announcement.  I'm totally chuffed!  :D
