Here is an alternative method. Tape around the perimeter of the wing. The tape width does not matter. Construct a cutting tool consisting of a number eleven scapel bladed epoxied to a wood stick with the correct width shim representing  the width of the painted edge. The wood stick should extend beyond the tip of the blade to act as a guide. Use this tool to cut away the masking tape.

I've got my best results using carefully cut "panels" of Aviattics CDL White backed decal. Overlap to the bottom surfaces as wide as you wish and the Decal Shape when applied will define the overlap band.

I found a cheat. A pc10 coloured fabric marker pen!
I found it in a craft shop. Chisel tip one end and pointed the other. I drew them on.

Is that impervious to various types of varnish, Dave? I've tried several but they've all leaked when I applied varnish or Future/Kleer.
(Total disaster with a Ruston 1000th Camel some years back.)

What brand of pen?
Thanks
Sandy
