Clerget 9 family
« on: January 04, 2017, 06:41:38 AM »
I finally started working on Clerget engines family (9B, 9BF, 9Z and 9N). I'm still waiting for a book (Clerget Patent Aero Engines: Instructions and List of Parts) to have exact dimensions of the engine. To tell you the truth it's the only obstacle, that hamper starting crankcase. Maybe somebody has any plans or dimensions of this engine? It's difficult to measure it in museum, as far as crankcase is concerned.

I'd be grateful for your help.

All the best, Lukasz

Luhasz,

Have you considered making them just a wee smaller than absolutely accurate to 1/48 & 1/32 scales to account for the Thicknesses of the cowls in the existing kits ??

Hello Ed!

Yes, I'll apply 1:33 scale, and try to fit it to Triplane cowl (of course after thinning).

all the best, Lukasz

I'm afraid I can't help with measurements but I just wanted to say that I am really looking forward to seeing the results of your research. Your work is incredible!

Hello All,

I am a new member here and hope I can add somthing to the forum.  I am building a model of sorts, a full scale Sopwith F1 Camel using many original parts including an original Le Clerget 9b.  If you need any photos or dimentions please contact me and I will try to help.  My web site is  www.kozaero.com

I am a big fan of accurate scale models and I hope to help out with the details if you need anything.

Sincerely,

Koz

Oooo, I haven't been here for a long time....

Your proposition saves my life! I'm still waiting for overall clerget dimension - I need crankcase diameter for starting my project. Could you help me in this matter? Writing PM.

All the best, Lukasz

OK, it's time for showing some progress. This engine is definitely more difficult, than Br2 - crankcase is complicated and smooth, so difficult to accurate reproduce. Hope, I'll manage :)
