Now for something completely different.
« on: September 11, 2012, 07:18:06 PM »
Hi guys;

As this is the only forum that I now post to and as this will be something as the title says 'Completely Different', also as I really value the thoughts, ideas and suggestions that my good friends on the forum feed in to all the build threads.
Now this is the only section on the forum that I could possibly put this build in to as I am moving from the past in to the future, however if you guys think that it is inappropriate, I will gladly delete the thread with no hard feelings.

I have been severely distracted from modelling whilst the Olympics have been on and I am finding it difficult to get back to my FE2b, however my wife and I went to the Closing Ceremony of the Paralympic Games, a wonderful experience, low and behold one of the main parts of the show was a parade of these way out vehicles straight out of Mad Max and other futuristic films, which of course was perfect for getting any modellers jolly ol' adrenalin pumping, soooooo I thought, go on lad give it a go, which I'm about to do.

I have found this sketch on tinternet and thought it would make a great model.

I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on the subject.

I repeat, if you think it's inappropriate for the forum, I will gladly delete it.

Cheers

Pete

That is excellent Pete, and you have posted it in exactly the right place, we all need a break at times from our WW1 aircraft and this will be a perfect build to watch, I'm looking forward to seeing you tackle this unusual machine.

RB, glad I've inspired you, try 'Google Image' and type in 'Steampunk Vehicles' this should give you further inspiration, this is where I got my idea from, I think my model will be a mishmash of 1/32 and 1/35 AFV parts plus of course shed loads of scratch building.

I love this sort of stuff Pete, you should have a look at http://www.maschinenkrueger.com/joomla/ or google SF3D.
It may be a little too Sci Fi for some, but it includes a lot of steampunk influences and there is some awesome scratchbuilding and kit bashing.

Meng Models have a 1/35 kit of the WWII German VsKfz 617 minesweeping armoured vehicle that you might find useful as a starting point.

Cheers,

Chris
You can have it good; You can have it fast; you can have it cheap. Pick any two, but all three are impossible.

The plan is slowly coming together now, a couple of bits have been ordered, I thought I would title it 'Symphony in Rust'.

Hi guys;

Hopefully I'm going to use this Pyro Aston Martin as the main body for the build.
