Just two weeks and you've got the major components assembled, painted and decaled!  Remarkable!  I dream of being able to finish a model so quickly.  Beautiful work!
Cheers,
Bud

I agree completely although I would settle for 2 months  8)

Hi Przemo! Thank you for watching! I'm pretty sure your 1/72 Dr1 will put my bigger one to shame! But the Raben colour schemes are great - I will definitely do a few more - DVII hopefully! We will miss you on Friday, Keep Well!
Hi Terri, Thank You for the kind comments ... not a patch on your great models though!
Hi Bud! It is a relatively easy subject with a colour sceme that has crossed my mind, so just a few weeks is really all it took... but I have made a few compromises - That's life! Thank You for the kind comments!
Rick, just think that if we made a model every two months we would have 6 by the end of the year! I very rarely manage that many these days... But Thank You for your support - it really helps!
Hi Gregory, Thank You too for checking in! Yes, this particular scheme is really attractive, the very similar scheme with the Raven that Przemo is going to do is even prettier...

Well, time marches on... I had to put on a coat of Tamiya Clear Acrylic Gloss with a touch of their Matting Agent in to seal everything in... it is less glossy, but still shines a lot... this looks OK to me...

Herewith another "pose" shot (Just for Terri ) with components dry-fiitted and taken in natural light.. the colours are close.. Then I will do all the detail painting, the guns, rigging and tail and wing skids etc...

This has been great fun so far...

Regards,

Marc

And that last is wat matters most, in my opinion :) I only manage to finish (hopefully) 2 1/72 Roden models in 1,5 year, but I had fun doing them! :) I just wish the stash would not grow with a few factors more as my completion rate... :)

Marc - just popped in to see this and what a super build you've done in such a short space of time. I hope you manage to finish before your imposed deadline but even if not you are going to have a very nice 'addition' once it is completed

I've been following along on your Dr. 1 build and agree with all the preceding comments.  It's going along very nicely and the Raben plane is always an interesting subject.  Aside from a few minor niggles, the Eduard 1/48 triplanes are just such nice subjects and always satisfying to build.

Thank You Jeroen, Juan, Tug, Gabe and Rick for checking in! Yes, this has been a fortuitous choice of build to do, the first time I have done it, and it does go together well with few problems... The Raben Triplanes are just so pretty, I'm glad I chose one... Now on to the finer details, and these prove to be quite acceptable... I have no PE for this kit so we will rely on the plastic parts! Here is a collection of most of the details needing some attention... (Remember the old saying? The Devil is in the details?) I have some of the basic wood tones on, but now we need to do the metallics...

This build is giving me some great pleasure still...
Regards,

Marc

Thank You, Terri, for your constant encouragement! It is appreciated... Well, did I finish in time... Ye-es, if you overlook the nasty painting of the tyres (now hopefully hidden under some weathering), and I still need to add the control wires, but I will get there! To my surprise the prop turns, together with the rotary engine, good model engineering, Eduard! The finish may be too shiny and clean for some, but this is as it appears in the only known photograph of the real machine... so this is as it appears now...

I was thinking of doing something similar with the CSM Dolphin, I know there are great builds of this kit on the site, but I'd like to know if it's a straightforward build out of the box, any interest? I also wondered if we all managed a build in a month, we could each do 12 a year! Lots and Lots!

Regards,

Marc

Fantastic. Almost a Blitzbau in the speed you built it. Love the wood grain effect you've achieved. Top Fokkering  ;)
