Could be. Myself, I would have to say Boelcke. Had he not been killed we may be talking about him instead of Richtofen. Just my two cents.

     He may not have been the greatest however he was an extremely proficient and aggressive air fighter. Like the man who brought him down he never turned down a fight despite the odds. His final fight against eight of 56 Squadron's best including the great McCudden, and the fact that they had tremendous difficulty bringing him down is a testament to his greatness, talent, and courage; a man who truly deserves high praise and regard for certain!
