Thank you all very much for the good thoughts and kind words. A couple of you have certainly had it laid on worse than I had, and I value your advice. 'Positive' is perhaps a little different for me; I am one of those odd ducks who prefers autumn to spring, and grey skies to sunny days, but I understand the spirit being conveyed. There is a real sense of climbing up out of a hole. We go for walks and such; there are a couple of parks nearby. I came upon some interesting reading, some old books that had long interested me. I am starting back up on modeling a little, though not a Great War subject. Something I took out of the 'cupboard of doom' where it had languished for several years....

This is what it looks like now: finish is green mottle over foil, kit is the Hasegawa Ki-43 (in 1/72 of course).

On eo f my favorite all time a/c Old Man. So it's paint over foil?  Airbrushed or hairy stick method.

(FWIW, I too prefer autumn, and I do love a cloudy day here and there myself.)

Hairy stick, Sir, and one with very little hair. After the splotching, a good rub with a 3000 grit polishing pad (knocks away a good bit of the paint), then repeat the splotching and again the rub-down. Keeps it even and adds a certain extra randomness.

This is the machine it is intended to represent....

(I think the mottle is overwhelmed by glare, not absent, near the cockpit)

Old Man, I agree, the glare is hiding the finish here. You've done a great job, but then you're doing it as mother nature did in real life. It certainly looks the part. Thanks for posting so we could see it.
