Just A Note, My Friends
« on: August 07, 2016, 03:56:27 AM »
I had a bit of a bother with my health this spring. Not the usual heart trouble; a cold that went to pneumonia, and when it did, the leukemia I was diagnosed with years ago flared up. It had not bothered me before, except that it does leave me a bit more tired than I otherwise be. But this was rather spectacular. It put my head in a bad place, and I go pretty solitary when that happens, becoming decidedly a-social and reclusive. It is an active cancer, after all, and that is not pleasant to think about. But the doctors have recently told me it has calmed down, and I will not need chemo (which I was worried about). So I am getting out of the slough, and back more to my old self.

 Old Man,
I'm glad to hear your health issues have improved my old friend. I'll happily add you to my prayer list for all the support I can offer. Here's to your continued well being.

Following my second stroke I was very much in the same place mentally has you. I withdrew from everything and everyone once held dear. It certainly was a long long road back but I did get back in time. It's absolutely true that prayer and positive thinking do make a great difference. Stay well and positive my old friend.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette

I am very pleased that you are getting on top of things James;after 3 surgeries and 2 bouts of chemo in the last 5 years I understand exactly what you mean,I just work at keeping the dark thoughts away and looking forward, admittedly much easier said than done sometimes.Best regards,I hope we see another of your always fascinating projects very soon.

James,
Like you and many of us here I too can understand your predicament; as age and the inevitable health concerns become more prominent in our lives the tendency to withdraw into one's self is all too familiar and, in my view, a natural reaction. It's great news that you don't require Chemo and are getting back to your old self. I really like what Dave has said here, "work at keeping the dark thoughts away and looking forward", I've just had to kick my own posterior and do just that when the negative side of a serious heart condition started to drag me deeper towards the "dark side" of life! The old song says "keep on the sunny side" and it appears you are doing just that. Keep well, you are certainly not alone and I join all the others here in wishing you a speedy recovery!
Cheers!

My thoughts are with you, OM. Stay positive and stay apart of this forum, because if it's a positive vibe you need you won't find a better place than this.

As the others said: try to think positive, make some light sports like swimming or walking and then got to your modeling shelf put an oldschool cassette in your recorder, and listen to some musik or an audiobook and eat some good chocolate while studying the instructions of your next build.
Hope your dark clouds disapear with this trick. It always works with me.

I have been wondering for some time where you had got to, and am pleased beyond measure that you are not having to face chemotherapy. That at least is good news. I too can empathise with the feelings to withdraw and become asocial as I went through a very bad patch a few years ago, for psychological rather than physical reasons, and I too almost completely withdrew from the world. When I started modelling again that helped a great deal, but it took a long time before I could post anything. With the help of a member of this forum I did so and found the support given here was a huge tonic. I just hope that we can do the same for you: I too am really looking forward to following another of your incredible scratch builds. I will also be thinking of you and wishing you good health again.

Stephen.

Like the others I had missed your preence here at the Forum. Also like the others I am happy you are getting back to a more normal way of life. Good news about no chemo and I will certainly keep you in my thoughts and prayers for continued good news!
