Fokker D.VIII in 1/48
« on: July 18, 2016, 05:53:29 PM »
Hi All

Just to prove I am sane and I can make something in less than a year I knocked up a Dragon 1/48 Fokker D.VIII. Took me about 2 months and it was mostly OOB. Decals were so off the mark other than the crosses I used scraps from the spares box. Upper lozenge was left overs from the Roden D.VII and bottom were Copper State. I took the red stars from a Mig15 and cut them down a little.
I will now get on with the Drachenballon and hope that does not take another year.

Cheers, Alan.

Smart looking model Alan!

You have cobbled the spare box decals together very well.

And I like your streaking, well done.

What a beauty she is, Alan!  I especially like your wing streaking.  Very convincing.
Cheers,

I too think that you have got the wing streaking just right. The remainder of the markings look spot on too - would never have guessed that they had been cobbled together.

An impressive build indeed - just looking forward to the Drachebalon now!

Stephen.

Thanks Boggie, Ed, Bud, Stephen Rick and Gary for your kind comments
I found the streaking much easier to do using oils rather than the acrylics I normally use, I was able to move the paint around a bit without it drying on me.
Cheers, Alan.
