WNW Junkers J.1 at last

Finally I got my finger out. I've been tinkering with this for as long as Justin has with his J.1 and we discussed a lot between us about the kit during and before working on it.
Just like Justin I'd spent ages reworking the cockpit, resizing the tank/seat. building the gravity fuel tank and moving the control panel/dash, the airleron pushrods etc only to realise its a total waste with the upper wing on. In the rear pit I replaced the cable covers WNW's just looked to meh for me. added rivets, the aerial housing redid the ply sidings and spent ages detailing things you can hardly see.
Now as much as I love WNW kits this one has to be their worst effort, not to say its bad at all but the research and accuracy isnt there that shines in other kits theyve released. Trailing edged are incredibly thick and I adressed as much of that as I could. **Here I have to give a mention to Dan Galvin** Who despite being on the opposite side of the world to me sent me a spare rudder, cowls, a complete tail and decals from a wrecked kit he had and much more that made things far easier as my first attempt to thin the rudder ended in disaster. So from 2 rudders I managed to cobble one together. The spare tail also meant I could convert one to the later type as I'm building a late airframe with a guessed at number.
I tried to add weight to the wheels, not sure how it looks though even now. But the flat tyre look suits the weighty beast I think. I've startd to mod the valve train using Taurus BMW valve springs which seem close, 2 sets seem enough..
Painted with Citadel acrylics over Humbrol silver 11 rattlecan as an ali base
So some images, No set order and any questions feel free to ask. At Photobuckets mercy as to what comes up... gulp! Couldnt access my old account so started anew.
As always critique and comments are welcome.

Excellent work on the wings, Keith. The chipping is very
well done. The observer's area is gorgeous. On top of
all that, happy birthday, my friend! See, there really is
life after 60!
Cheers,
Ernie

Nicely done Keith, I really like the "chipping" and the faded look you've done here. Congratulations on another Birthday, hope tomorrow isn't too bad as a result!
All the "Very Best"!

The paintwork looks very convincing - worn but not worn out. The tyre is also excellent and as has been commented the other small details add to the overall model in ways which make it something special.
