Besonneau Canvas Hangar
« on: June 21, 2016, 04:27:09 AM »
Hello there, anyone have any info on the material used for the Besonneau Canvas Hangars?

This detail seems to be natural linen in different shades?

In this photo, some of them were camouflaged, what colors?

Any help on this topic is appreciated...

Kent

Hi Kent,
As RB pointed out, it was canvas. I've always assumed an olive, brown, etc. There is a Windsock issue of fairly recent vintage that contains color photos of the last remaining Bess still in use. I'll try to run the volume and issue number down for you if you want.

Sorry to be late to the party,

HTH!

I'm trying to build one myself and without any definite details on the color,  I've settled on an olive green shade that I found at the fabric store.  I've tested the cloth with a homemade fabric stiffened and it seems to look like the waxed canvas I seen in the pictures. I don't know if this helps you any?
