Aviattic’s Ansaldo Balilla Markings
« on: June 18, 2016, 07:56:01 PM »
As many will know, Richard Andrews and Ron Kootje have been slaving away for what must be two years or more, painstakingly developing the parts for this wonderful kit, which is now very close to release.

We have also been working with Aviattic to research and design the decal choices for the two boxings. It has been a challenging project which has absorbed a lot of time and effort – not least because Richard is so committed to getting every detail as precisely accurate as possible. I am delighted to say that, with the decal and profile design work now finally completed, Richard has asked me to announce the forthcoming marking options here and also on our own website. It has been a real honour to be involved in such a brilliant project - it fully deserves your support!

The two kit boxings will be:
ATTKIT006 Ansaldo A.1 Balilla for the Italian markings (including the Balilla flown in the USA by Captain Eddie Rickenbaker)
ATTKIT007 Ansaldo A.1 (Post World War 1) for six Polish and one Mexican Balillas.

Decal sheet:

Note that the George and dragon painting for options 1 & 2 will be supplied as a litho printed overlays for the silk screen printed shield and ribbon decals shown here. Option 1 carried the painting on the right side of the fuselage only and on each lower wing upper surface, whereas option 2 carried the artwork on the fuselage side only.
The seven options:

Pre-orders for the first batch of kits (being reserved fast!) can be made at the Aviattic website:

I or Richard will try to answer any queries you may have....

Great decals as usual Rowan.  I like the Mexican A.F. selection as one of my father's cousins worked as a mechanic at Campo Aereo Balbuena although not when the Ansaldo would have been there.

I must say you guys did a great job putting this together for this kit I can't wait to have the first set in my hands to c it up close.
Then finally I can build it myself after 3 years lol.

Today I have finished the most challenging part so far the engine cowling very hard shape to get right but I think I nailed it.

Regards Ron

Excellent  :D

Just a  note about your wonderful profiles:

As I 've said to Richard should be " squadriglia da caccia" not " squadriglia de caccia"   ;)

I'm looking forward to receive my kit!!!!

I have also a small correction to suggest - the pilot's name for profile 4 in the Polish version is Seńkowski.

Hi Rowan and Richard,

It's very exciting to see this project coming to completion. The decal options look great! I have one question: I can see the beautiful artwork for the sides of the airplanes, but what do the markings and paint schemes of the wings looks like? Are there images of the top and bottom views available that I can see? I know that some have that wild pattern on the wings, but I'd like to see what the others look like.

Thanks!
George
