Airfix Eindeker
« on: April 24, 2016, 03:41:08 PM »
having worked on an Eindeker, as soon as I saw one in my LHS I had to have it!

I havent had much chance to model lately, this build should get my inspiration up again.

I opened up the sliding door on the left fuse half, this is to allow heat to escape the cockpit on the real thing, something quite necessary when you have a flaming catherine wheel for an engine at your feet.

I added some castor oil spatter to the firewall, and seatbelts from Tamiya tape.

The Oberursel engine is quite stunning for the scale, and a light wash brought out the detail.

I have a scheme in mind, but it is for an E.1 which is a slightly smaller aircraft all round.

There are a couple of subtle details on the full size E.11 that I will point out as the build progresses

So far, well done Airfix, I highly recommend buying one.

Good start, Kiwi. :D  Nice touch opening up the small side door.
The engine is indeed nice for the small scale and yours looks
great.  I look forward to the next updates of your build.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Nice to see one of these coming together. Judging by what I've seen so far of this, and the BE2c, it bodes well for the future from Airfix.....

Airfix has really stepped up their game and in the hands of modelers like yourself they are even better! Looking forward to the rest of the build!

paint on.
I had difficulty deciding just what colours the splinter finish would be, so i decided on the colours used to paint other Fokker products such as the D11

Bear in mind this is an E.1 scheme, and not correct for the E.11, but I could not resist it .
So far the only fault I can find is the tailplanes are quite fragile

Excellent to see this kit being put together by a master modeller. Lovely colour scheme and superb detail, especially the open door in the fuselage.

your paintwork is excellent.  Great build and looking forward to more, my friend!

Right or wrong it doesn't make much difference, the scheme you have used looks superb.
