1/48 Eduard Albatros DV
« on: April 09, 2016, 06:20:17 PM »
I decided to use Pheon decals of Albatros D.V 4545/17 flown by Vzfw Max Wackwitz of Royal Jasta 24s. It was reportedly bought down by AA fire on 14th November 1917 and was subsequently captured although the airframe showed very little evidence of damage. Aviattic 5 colour lozenge decals were used and paints being primarily Vallejo model air RLM 4 and 65. Monofilament was used for the rigging on the wings but EZ line was used for the nose to wing strut as it was more forgiving if I made contact when handling. The mono would've snapped. The prop was a base coat of orange with coats of gloss varnish and Vallejo transparent wood grain over strips of clear decal painted with Vallejo RAF Mid stone. I probably over did the wood grain on the last application but that's life. Also the U/C is slightly out of kilter but that's something I'll address more carefully on future builds.

She's absolutely gorgeous, Toby.  Very striking scheme.
