AEG Giv early
« on: March 21, 2016, 11:13:29 PM »
Well another start. Another dream of finishing. Doing an early AEG G.IV with the cam and have been plodding on with the cockpit for the past few weeks. I'm hoping I am close to where I can button it up and start working on the engines. Made a small mistake (read HUGE Mistake) on one decals and for who know what reason I put it in the wrong spot. So trying to paint it into the proper spot. Hopefully wont be too obvious.

I got hold of some thin platic sheet and made the seat frame. Used my Japanese hole punch for the first time and love it. Now just to do the seat in leather. stains  at fuel tank and pin wash applied.

Looking good! Think carefully about that 'seat frame' - it isn't visible in any contemporary crash photos so was probably covered over in leather / not visible, and I'm suspicious that what is visible on the survivor is the result of staining / fading.

Thanks. I was only doing at the Windsock guids has it and yes I will paint it leather. I could see a seat frame that had litening holes, byt I am suspicious about them being so visable under the leather. I wanted to try making a tape transfer and this seemed like a good place to experiment. It also gave me a chance to play with my Japanese hole punch and I have to say I love it.
Appreciate the thoughts and comments.
James

That's looking very nice, James, the staining on the fuel tanks and the panel details are "top drawer"! Is the scheme with Cam you mention one of the Box options??
Cheers,

Nice start James,

I keep meaning to get some kind of hole punch.. Was it expensive?

Thanks everyone :)
Small update. The front and back parts of the instrument panels are finished I think. Also some bombs added to nose and control column added. I detached the spare control stick and drilled out the mounting socket.
