Academy Camel 1/32
« on: March 19, 2016, 05:23:02 AM »
Hello everybody,
I have built this many times in the past - with variable results  :D - , as it is simple and affordable, perfect for beginners. In fact it is the very first WW1 stuff I ever bought. However, after seeing the superb Des Delatorre build, I wanted to see how far I could go with this one now. I am quite pleased with this, especially when I see it next to the other one (the first one  ;D ).   It does not represent a specific plane, because I ruined the correct decals (with coffee !!!) so I used a spare "W" letter without any references.  It is hand-painted with enamels, oils and powders.  One of these days I will have to buy an airbrush anyway ::)

A superb looking Camel, you have done a great job with this kit. Many have criticized this kit but with a bit of work it turns out to be a really nice model as you have demonstrated here.

Really nicely done Camel! I am impressed by anyone who achieves this kind of result! I am still too chicken to even start my original Hobbycraft version   :-[ .

Lovely build and the finish with a hairy stick is very good.

Take some advice - don't bother with the airbrush, just stay with the hairy stick as you will have problems improving on that finish. Superb model in every way - as good as the Dr 1 if not better.

Stephen.

Absolutely nothing wrong with your Camel - a really great result especially as you have brush painted this to a very high standard.
