Hello friends!
Since today was such a lousy weather, I went into the Lufftwaffenmuseum in Gatow. I (perhaps) made for you a few interesting pictures.
Here comes the first plane
Junkers D I (original build April 1918)
The Junkers D I was the first full metal plane of the world. Designed and built as a fighter for the German Empire .
Some relicts of Manfred von Richthofen
A identification tag of Karl Wunderlich
Mourning grind of Oswald Boelcke
Air log
Instruments, field pilot's badge and observer badge, Uniforms, and other things
I hope you like it. Part two is coming soon
Jürgen

Many thanks, Jürgen for this fine collection and I look forward to seeing part two.
The camouflage scheme on the Junkers raises a question in my mind - though I suspect it may be an old chestnut. The colour boundaries on the corrugated surfaces are hard. Does this reflect the fact that schemes were generally hand painted, or is there significant evidence in the photographic historic record of soft-edged air brushing?
Best wishes
Nigel
